Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) (www.jncasr.ac.in) is a multidisciplinary research institute situated in Jakkur, north of Bangalore, India. It was set up by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India in 1989, to commemorate the birth centenary of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Founder President of JNCASR is Bharatratna Prof CNR Rao (FTWAS, FRS), an internationally distinguished chemist (h-index 161, citations 119288), known for his contributions to Solid state and structural Chemistry, superconductivity, nanotechnology and energy science Under his visionary leadership, JNCASR has emerged as an acclaimed international research center in areas ranging from structural chemistry and new materials (chemistry and bio) to theoretical / computational science, chemical biology, chromatin biology, neurosciences and genetics. It provides a vibrant academic ambience hosting more than 500 Researchers, with 50 faculty and 450 PhD and postdoctoral students. It houses state of art laboratories housed in a picturesque architecturally esoteric campus, full of trees and water bodies. It has a very modern auditorium (500 pax), several conference and seminar rooms and an international guest house (i-House, 30 rooms), ideal for conducting international conferences. Prof Krishna Ganesh, the co-organiser of OTS meeting is the SERB National Science Chair at JNCASR since July 2024 and is a leading researcher in the area of nucleic acids, particularly chemistry and biology of peptide nucleic acids (PNA). Apart from him, JNCASR has active researchers in chemical biology areas: Prof T Govindaraju (Alzheimer and templated DNA technology), Prof Jayanta Haldar (Antimicrobial resistance and infection biology) Prof Sarit Agasti (high resolution single molecule imaging), Prof Bani Kanta Sarma (Peptidomimetics) and Prof Eswaramoorthy (mesoporous nanomaterials for control drug release). JNCASR also has Editors-in-chief of two ACS Journals (Prof Ganesh – ACS Omega; Prof Haldar – ACS Infection Biology) and 5 Associate / Executive Editors of some ACS / RSC journals). More than 60% of faculty are Fellows of National and International Scientific Academies and have received high scientific recognitions. Thus, JNCASR is an ideal academic Institution to host the first ever OTS regional meeting of India in February 2025.
